Google mengumumkan bahwa mereka mengembangkan mobil yang bisa mengemudikan diri sendiri secara otomatis di jalan raya. Mobil tersebut sudah diuji coba di jalan-jalan di sekitar California selama beberapa bulan terakhir.

Meski proyek ini merupakan proyek yang tidak lazim yang dikerjakan Google, akan tetapi menurut sejumlah analis, mobil otomatis memiliki kelebihan yang sangat penting. Dan sejauh ini, baru satu kecelakaan yang terjadi pada mobil tersebut yakni ditabrak dari belakang oleh mobil yang dikendarai manusia saat mobil otomatis itu berhenti di lampu merah.
